Definition 3s5l24
A service charge assessed by some casinos, especially in high stakes games, in lieu of a rake. The time charge is collected on a periodic basis out of the pot, such as every 30 minutes or every hour. Pots that are subject to the time charges are known as time pots.
Example 55fm
Tables that are raked are advantageous to the player if the dealer is slow, whereas tables that are time-charged are advantageous if the dealer is fast or the players play quickly and fold often. The more hands are played an hour, the more advantageous the time charge is for the players.
