Full Tilt Poker Montreal Festival Main Event
After a quick heads up match on Day 5, a champion has be crowned in the Main Event of Full Tilt Poker’s Montreal Festival. Henri Balcazar defeated second place finisher Eric Despres for the title after his 53d hit a river flush against Despres’ pocket Kings. Prior to heads up play, when the action became three-handed the remaining players all agreed to a deal, with third place finisher Michael Linster getting the extra cash.

Vancouver Casino/Hotel Deal Back On The Table
After two-and-a-half years of inactivity, downtown Vancouver’s massive $500,000,000 hotel and casino project has been brought back to life. Originally abandoned by city leaders amidst great public outcry, the project has now been taken up by Las Vegas-based Paragon Gaming as well as two Canadian companies.
In order to appease concerned of the city, the casino’s projected size has been reduced from 1,100 slot machines and 200 tables games to 600 and 75, respectively. On top of that, the number of hotel rooms has also been reduced to 550. The casino/hotel will be situated beside the 60,000 seat stadium BC Place, the home to CFL team BC Lions.
The facility is expected to bring in $180 million per year to the city and another $87 million from tourist spending outside the resort. The hotel/casino, which is on track to becoming the largest casino in Western Canada, will be ready by the end of 2016.

WSOP Circuit Changes Course From Montreal to Gatineau
Where: Casino du Lac-Leamy – Gatineau (Near Ottawa), Quebec
When: November 13 to November 24
The WSOP recently announced a change for one of the venues in the newest circuit event schedule. Originally announced to take place at the Casino de Montréal the events will now be taking place at Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, which is just across the river from Ottawa.
WPT Montreal Main Event
Where: Playground Poker Club – Montreal, Quebec
When: November 29 to December 5
After the successful $3000+300 WPT Montreal event in November 2012 event, which drew nearly 1,200 players, The World Poker Tour has decided to run two WPT events in Montreal this year. The first, featuring a buy-in of $3,500+$350, is the fully televised PartyPoker sponsored WPT Montreal Main Event. At last year’s event, a field of almost 1200 players battled it out for a first-place prize of nearly $800,000.
Party Poker Qualifiers: Every Sunday at 3:30pm ET is a $300 buy-in, 3 seat guaranteed satellite tournament. Super satellites and other satellites are also available.
